• Within Wahlert Catholic High School's Advanced Placement (AP) program, students engage in intense discussions, solve problems collaboratively, and learn to write clearly and persuasively.

• Courses include:  AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Government, AP Psychology, AP English Language & Composition, AP English Literature & Composition, AP Macroeconomics, AP Spanish Language & Culture, AP Spanish Literature & Culture, AP Computer Science Principles, and AP US History

• Students who score a "3" or higher on their AP exam(s) may earn three college credits per passed exam (pending college approval).  College credit is not given for test scores below "3".  Most colleges accept these credits, however it is the responsibility of the student to check with prospective colleges/universities for transferability.  Additional information regarding AP credit transfer can be found on AP's College Credit Policy Search webpage.

• There is no cost associated with these courses.  However exam fees are approximately $97 per exam.

• The College's concurrent enrollment program is accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships. These classes enable high school students who have met the eligibility requirements of the College and high school to take college coursework. High school instructors who have been approved by the College teach these courses using the NICC curriculum.

• Common courses include College Writing I & College Writing II, as well as College Probability & Statistics.  Students must have a qualifying ACT score to participate in a dual credit course option.

• College Writing I & II are worth 3 NICC credits each.  Most colleges accept these credits.  Students are responsible to check with prospective colleges and universities to ensure transferability.

• Each contracted class costs approximately $150-$300.  Students must adhere to NICC's drop/add dates and policies should the need arise.  Students are also responsible for their own book fees.

• The PICC program allows high school students to enroll part-time in college credit courses at Northeast Iowa Community College prior to high school graduation.  Students earn both high school and College credit for successfully completing college-level coursework. These post-secondary credits are transferable to other colleges and universities depending on the degree requirements of that institution. High school students must meet the requirements and guidelines for the NICC class for which they are registering including a qualifying ACT®, ALEKS ® Math or ACCUPLACER® placement score. Students must also meet the academic requirements of the school district along with minimum proficiency cut scores in reading, math and science, based on their Iowa Assessments.

• Wahlert will use Northeast Iowa Community College's grading scale to designate letter grade on the student's transcript.

• College credits are given based upon specific college regulations.  Most colleges accept these credits.  Students are responsible to check with prospective colleges and universities to ensure transferability.  Check with your forwarding institution on transfer equivalency.  High School students must meet the requirements and guidelines for the NICC class for which they are registering including a qualifying ACT, or ACCUPLACER placement score.

• Common courses students have taken through the PICC program include:  Public Speaking, Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, College Algebra, and Cultural Diversity/Identity.

• Approved PICC courses are available at a reduced cost.  A 3-credit course costs approximately $325, plus any additional cost for books or materials.  PICC courses are available to all Wahlert students.

• Wahlert Catholic High School's Post-Secondary Educational Opportunity (PSEO) program includes courses taken at the local colleges on their campuses, with their professors, and with college students.  These local colleges include Loras College, Clarke University, and the University of Dubuque.

• Courses must be pre-approved by the State, and must go above and beyond the highest level offered within Dubuque community schools.  Students can also choose a PSEO course that isn't available through any Dubuque community schools. Paperwork for a PSEO course can be submitted to the Wahlert Counseling Office.

• College credits are given based upon specific college regulations.  Students are responsible to check with prospective colleges and universities for transferability.

• Common courses taken by students through the PSEO program include:  Public Speaking, aviation courses, Introduction to Philosophy, and Calculus III.

• Approved PSEO courses are free to students living in Iowa and have a qualifying score on the Iowa Assessments.  Students are also responsible for book and other fees.
